How Bad Do You Want It?

“Give it all you got!” What an interesting saying. The idea that a person gives everything they have to one thing. This type of focus requires one to have deep purpose, because without it, motivation will wither. Why will motivation wither? Simply due to the fact that the energy expended on a daily basis for incremental gains will feel like you are going nowhere fast. It is those small gains that will create something larger in the future. But, to see that fruit you must have patience. Patience is hard when we are constantly bombarded with media telling us about success stories that seem like they happened overnight. As my father loved to tell me growing up, “Rome wasn’t build in a day”.

How Deep Is Your Purpose?

His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj exemplified in his life that he had what one needs to “give it all you got”. He had extreme patience, as demonstrated with the multiple failures in acquiring the landed needed to build the Neasden Temple (https://londonmandir.baps.org/the-mandir/). He also had an enormous amount of energy which never withered. Many have witnessed this tireless energy whilst traveling with his Holiness throughout the world (https://www.baps.org/About-BAPS/PramukhSwamiMaharaj/Vicharan.aspx). But, the most important part he had was purpose. That purpose gave him everything he needed to give his all. His singular purpose to follow the wishes of his guru’s and please God gave him to ability to overcome lethargy and impatience even when things were moving at a snails pace. His life showed how important purpose is and how having the right purpose can make the impossible possible. (https://pramukhswami.org/)

Looking Inward

The fire that burns inside me is due to His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj and is kept burning by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj. Yet, to make this small fire into a bonfire I must keep my purpose in the forefront of my mind. I must recall why I am doing what I am doing and for whom I am doing what I am doing. As my father loved to say, Rome wasn’t build in a day.
